Kids of Kabul: Living Bravely through a Never-Ending War
Deborah Ellis travelled to Afghanistan in 2008 and interviewed 10- to 17-year-olds who have lived under the Taliban regime. These true accounts of real children are very powerful. For example, one boy has never been to school and only wants to keep his job as a cleaner in a museum. One of the girls is in a mental hospital because of cognitive problems and has no access to medical or educational help. This is a must read for those interested in the way war effects children.
